describing the special features of the museum's permanent collections,
Children's Palace or Urban planning Center, yu Garden and the Old Town, the
city's colonial European past at The Bund, the modern Xintiandi, and a renowned
Shanghai silk carper factory.

Shanghai/Yichang*

Morning at leisure in Shanghai. Later fly to Yichang, where you board a
Five-Star Victoria Cruises ship to begin your memorable upstream cruise. *If
direct flight is not available, fly to Wuhan and travel by motorcoach on to
Yichang.
Day 4 Tue Nov 8•
Yangtze Cruise San Dou Ping / Xiling Gorge

Stop at the village of San Dou Ping to see the amazing Three Gorges Dam, the
largest hydroelectric project in the world. Return to your ship and sail upriver
through the massive Three Gorges ship locks. Once past the dam, cruise through
scenic Xiling Gorge, longest of the famed Three Gorges.

Yangtze Cruise Wu Gorge / Small Gorges Excursion / Qutang Gorge

This morning, marvel at Wu Gorge’s deep zigzagging valley. At Wushan, a cruiser
takes you for an amazing excursion up the scenic Daning River’s renowned Small
Gorges Dragon Gate, Misty or Emerald. Continue by sampan to the picturesque
mini-gorges of the Ma Du River with its clear, swift running water, unusual rock
formations, and monkeys and goats along the banks. Depending on the water level
and river conditions of the Yangtze River, your excursion may be on Shennong
Stream with its equally spectacular small gorges. Depart Wushan, passing through
dramatic Qutang Gorge, with steep mossy cliffs that crowd the sky.

Yangtze Cruise Fengdu*

A shore excursion at Fengdu shows the unique temples at Mingshan Hill, filled
with statues of ghosts and devils. *Alternate shore excursion may visit Wanzhou.

Disembark in Chongqing. Visit the Chongqing Zoo. Fly to historic Xi’an.

A memorable day of sightseeing begins as you view remnants of China’s ancient
past: the life-sized Terra-Cotta army, buried with the emperor for over 2200
years, the Bronze Chariot, Circle Vision Movie and Xi’an City Wall.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for flight to China’s illustrious
capital, Beijing. Tonight, attend a Beijing Duck dinner.
Day 10 Mon Nov 14•

This morning, see the vast Tiananmen Square and the extravagant Ming-era
Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City, including the jewelry section. After
lunch, visit the elegant Summer Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the
largest imperial garden in the world. The grounds include over 3,000 structures
with a variety of pavilions, towers and arched bridges surrounding Lake Kunming
with boat ride (weather permitting).
Day 11 Tue Nov 15•

A highlight of your trip today as you visits the renowned Great Wall. On the
way, if traffic allows, stop to photograph the iconic “Bird’s Nest”– the Beijing
National Stadium – host to many spectacular events of the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Then arrive at the amazing Great Wall, and walk along its ancient ramparts as
emperors once did. After lunch, visit a Cloisonné Factory and observe the
skilled artisans at work creating intricate designs. The rest of the afternoon
is at leisure to shop and explore on your own, or enjoy an optional tour.
